Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

In my divorce we agreed to divide education expenses. I pay 1/3 and ex pays 2/3. This is for private education K-12th grade. I sent my daughter to a private school, cosying $80,000 plus books and fees. Also all living expenses. My ex husband never prevented her from attending, but refuses to pay anything. I need help. What are my options?

Thank you for you inquiry.

A Motion to Compel/Enforcement should probably be pursued.

Does he have a legitimate reason for not paying his share?

Has the child always gone to private school? Has he ever objected to having the child attend private school?

If the Court finds in your favor, there is an excellent chance the judge will Order the other side to reimburse your attorney fees and costs.

If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

The above information is provided without any consideration/payment having been received, and without full knowledge of all of the facts.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.

If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation. The main office is in Dunedin, with a satellite location in Tampa.

Feel free to Google me.

Good Luck, Elliot Goldstein
