Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Moving out of the state

I have a 19 month old son and my ex-fiancee and I have recently split. I have plans to go to law school in the Washington, D.C. area in four or five years from now, but my ex-fiancee insists that he will have me arrested if I moved out of the state. He knows my ambitions and he only sees our son once maybe twice a week if he's lucky, he has yet to pay child support, my son is medically uninsured and I have to apply for medicaid, my ex-fiancee has had an unstable financial and employment history, his family has a questionable history, and I feel that son benefits more from living with me and my family and I feel he would benefit more in the area I wish to move to. Does my ex-fiancee have grounds for a case?

Re: Moving out of the state

probably not to have you arrested, unless by moving out of state you would be in violation of a court order. Quite frankly, this is not an area of the law in which you can get the best advice by asking one question in a chatroom. My advice is for you to retain an attorney to at least review your entire situation so he or she can render you a competent legal opinion.
