Re: Reduce child support payements

How can I reduce the amount taken out of my pay check , and still ensure that my son is taken care of . How can I get them to allow me to send the check and for it not to be taken from my account

Re: Re: Reduce child support payements

The amount and manner that child support are paid are by court order. To change it, you have to file a motion to reduce child support and a motion to pay child support directly. The second motion is not likely to be granted unless you have a really good reason.

The first motion will likely not be granted unless you have had a substantial decrease in pay or other unforeseen event. Child support is determined--essentially--by a computer, based on the income of the parents, the number of children, and the cost of the daycare and health insurance. There really isn't any discretion for the judge in determining how much child support should be.
