Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida
medical leave
i was put on medical leave on sept 25th, due to complications with my pregnancy.but i was informed a few days later that i didnt have to use fmla during my vacation and sick pay time i requested. so i then told my job plus metlife that my medical leave needed to start on oct 25th. my job gives six months off for medical leave. but they still tell me that i have to start it on the 25th of sept. my boss put me in at work for loa on oct 25th.they sent me a letter stating on march 23 08 i will be terminated from my job.i have been there 13 years. technically my 6 months doesnt end until the end of april.plus my boss gave me 2 weeks of sick pay in the hopes that i would return to work during the first month sept-25 thru oct 25th.there was no stipulation about this sick pay. so when i received my first check from met life it was 6 weeks back pay and they only paid me for 2 weeks. they took out the money for the 2 weeks sick pay and the vacation time and said i owed it to them.i have recently gotten the 2 weeks back for my vacation but they said i dont get sick pay because there is no such thing for a salaried employee. but my paycheck clearly says salaried employee sick pay.
i feel like im being treated unfairly due to my pregnancy.

Re: medical leave
You may have a claim and should check with an attorney. You may contact my office if you like.
The information you provided is somewhat confusing as to when you started FMLA leave and the fact that your company seems to provide 6 months of leave when the federal law only requires 12 weeks. All the facts need to be considered to calculate when your end date of leave should be and whether the termination date is proper.
