Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Liable for work performed

I have been working for an Air Conditioning company for the past 3 months. I have been selling replacement units with 10 KW heat strips in every unit.

I just recently found out that when a 10KW heat strip is sold the wires must be a specified size, if not there is a good chance the wires can cause a fire.

The company I work for doesn't seem to care about any wire sizes, perhaps they don't know or they don't care. I really don't know. I do know I have never been tought about air conditioning, and / or wiring by this company. They do know I am not experienced in this matter.

I would like to know if the wires do catch fire and someone is injured because of this am I liable for what happens?

Re: Liable for work performed

You may not only be held financially liable but also may have criminal responsibilities for deaths caused by knowingly using dangerous inadequate wiring. Recently in Miami there was a case of improperly grounded bus shelter lighting which electrocuted a young boy. Civil and criminal penalties were sought. Is your work being supervised by licensed electricians and inspected by local authorities? Your question evokes frightening implications which should be promptly addressed.
