Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
Personal Loans
I was dating someone for a while and we were planning on getting married. I told him I would co-sign for him and he promised me that I wouldn't have to worry about making a payment on anything. Not only did I end up being the primary person on the account, but he wasn't paying on them like he said he would. I didn't realize this until e went to jail four years ago and creditors began to call me. We had been apart for a year or two, and I spoke with him about it. He said he would take care of things. I never heard anything back and now one account is in collections and the other is about to be. When I tried to contact him again, he had his numbers changed and won't return my emails. Can I sue him to make him take care of the payments and uphold his verbal agreement?

Re: Personal Loans
You can but it sounds unlikely tht he has money to cover any judgment. I think you probably need to make payments and negotiate with creditors on your own or with an attorney since you are on the accounts and your credit will be affected.
Re: Personal Loans
Yes, you can sue him; however, criminals rarely have anything to pay judgments with. Good luck.
