small claims court

i would like to know the statute of limitations for small claims court. Can I file if someone owes me money and stopped paying me.

The statute of limitations is the same for all courts, not just small claims. Your question cannot be answered unless you indicate the nature of the obligation and when the last payment was made. The limitation is different on mortgages, promissory notes, oral agreements etc. and can be exended by payments or acknowledgments.
