Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Unjust enrichment

I lent my vehicle to an ex roomate with the agreement that he would take care of it keep it maintained in proper working order for the time he was borrowing it...it originally was only supposed to be untill he got his vehicle fixed (a month or two at the most). 10 months later I finally get it back after several requests and only after threatning legal action. He returned it Damaged, with no oil in , full of trash, and with major repairs needed (brakes, new tires, ball joints etc) he had put 33000 miles on it . It also had physical damage to the front and roof where he hit something....but never reported it or told me about it. When I first got it back he agreed to pay to fix it he is now refusing to.

Since I lent it voluntarily and we had only a verbal agreement that he would maintain the vehicle do I have any legal recourse against him and if so what ?

Thank you :)

Re: Unjust enrichment

No good deed goes unpunished. Yes, you can sue him for negligently maintaining your vehicle. If you want to do this yourself and hit the law books on your own, search for the term "bailment."
