Legal Question in Health Care Law in Florida

medical bills

My wife and I are retired, e on pension and social security and my wife on disibility. We have no money in savings or property because what little we had was spent on some very large medical bills.

I cannot get the medical people to except what we can afford to pay and if we pay what they ask for we cannot buy medicine.

If we send them what we can afford each month and they don't want to except it, Can they garnishe our retirement or attach our bank account?

Re: medical bills

Generally speaking, they cannot garnish your retirement accounts. They could get to your bank accounts, but they would need to sue you first and get a judgment. Usually, if you send the collection people what you can afford to pay every month and let them know that you are sending what you can, they frequently do not actually bring suit. If they do sue you, you should see an attorney and perhaps explore bankrupcy as an option.
