Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

business law/ Immigration

thank you.

I own a business in Fl.

This week I found out 1 of my employees just married 2 days ago, a man that was about to be deported in 2 weeks. She told all the employees she doesnt love him but is trying to help him from being deported & that she is getting a kick back for it.

I am concerned that the Feds could come & ask questions.

My brother is in law enforment. He says it is my obligation to turn her in, she has committed a felony.

Can the government do something to me as a business owner if they find out I just found out 1 of my employees broke the fed law & I did not let them know as an employer? Is this like we would be like aiding or accessory to the crime itself? Could they take away my business license or even worse?

Thank you for your time. R

Re: business law/ Immigration

I have not seen legal action taken against someone in your situation. And given that he is in removal and she is openly stating that she is participating in a fraudulant marriage, it seems highly unlikely that the scheme will prevail. Marriages in removal proceedings are highly screened. The real test may be what feels right to you in regards to your course of action.
