The process to obtain a social security number for your wife begins with the filing of a Petition for Alien Relative. Once approved, six months to a year, it will then be necessary to file an Application to Adjust Status as well as an Application for Employment Authorization. Her Social Security number may be obtained shortly thereafter.

Hi. If you're a U.S. citizen, you can concurrently file the I-130/I-485/I-765 with all necessary supporting documentation. Upon filing that combo, your wife will receive a biometrics capture notice. That appointment is usually 6-7 weeks after filing. About two weeks after the biometrics are captured, USCIS issues the employment authorization document which permits your wife to get her social security number. All the above works if the filing is submitted with all correct information and all necessary documentation. You may want to consider retaining counsel to assist you and we've done hundreds of these cases for people all across the country/world. Feel free to give us a call.
