Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

Escrow Account Abuse

I work for a title company in Florida. The prior manager had trouble in the past in the State of Ohio with using an escrow account for personal use. Now I beieve that the owner of the company is doing the same. We have proof that they have transferred money out of our escrow account into their account in Alabama. This has been going on for quite some time. People's mortgages aren't being paid off on time if at all. Checks are bouncing due to shortgage of funds. On loans that have rescinded, the money is never given back to the lender. We had an audit by our underwriter and somehow they were able to pull it off. I want to know who I should report this activity to and if their is anything that I can do.

Re: Escrow Account Abuse

Title Companies are licensed by the State so I would start there.

Re: Escrow Account Abuse

Contact the Florida Department of Insurance, I believe they took over the Florida Department of Banking and Finance. Then you may also want to contact Florida's Attorney General's Office.

Good luck!
