new job want me to sign document giving rights to my IP

new job want me to sign document giving rights to my IP. Do I have to waive my rights on IP to work for a company. Even if my future or past inventions have nothing to do with the feild I'm working in.

if you are already working there under a contract, then they need to provide you with "consideration" (ie: additional money, vacation or something else ) if you sign the clause...although you are probably safe, you should edit the ip clause to read only inventions related specifically to your line of work. finally, i would not sign the clause if you don't have to. feel free to call for further questions, justin lampel (847)845-4345
