Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Florida

Signed, scanned, & emailed copyright assignment legal?

I am running an online contest for a logo design at a website called SitePoint.com. The winner will be paid and they will have to sign a copyright assignment agreement to transfer rights to me. If I email the agreement to them and they print it, sign it, scan it, and then email the scanned file to me, will my scanned copy be legally binding? If not, what about a faxed copy?

Thanks for your help.

Eric

if you are trying to buy a logo, then we are talking about trademark law, not copyright law....but the signed copy is binding (although i would probably ask for a hard copy by mail after they email over the scanned copy) -justin lampel
