Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

apartment lease broken

Hello Sir, I have fallen into a dispute. A guy has filed a case against me in the civil court regarding breaking of lease. When I came new to this place, a guy offered me a temporary staying at his rented apartment. After few days he told me to apply for adding my name to the lease. When I filled the application, he suddenly left the country and hold me responsible for the apartment. Now I want to move from this apartment and he os holdong me responsible for breakng the lease. Is the lease considered valid if I have applied for adding my name to it and if the primary resident havnt signed his consent in the leasing doucment. I cannot figure it out if I am in the lease or not? Please help me out. Thanks.

Re: apartment lease broken

You need contact the landlord and see if you are actually on the lease and responsible. If you are then you are subject to the terms of the lease and can be held accountable.
