Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Breaking a Lease

I found out 2/8/08 that my boyfriend who I have been living with for over 2 years has been cheating on my for the past two months. He admitted to it when I confronted him and is saying that he wants to move out. I can't affoard to pay the rent on my own. Are there any laws that can help me get out of this lease without having to pay any fees or rent under these circumstances? My lease does not expire until 11/08.

Re: Breaking a Lease

This is a good reason not to "shack up" as Dr. Laura would say.

If you are the only one on the lease, then you and you alone are fully responsible for the rent. There are no laws that would allow you to break a lease because your boyfriend cheated on you.
