Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I live in a two bedroom two bathroom apartment in Orlando. Yesterday, both our bathrooms were filled with sewage water from bathtub and toilet and it had all sorts of filth, excreta.
I have been complaining about sewage water backing up in my toilet and bathtub for last month, and not only the person who sits on front desk has been unresponsive to our request but also rude, they would say stuff like move out in August but didn't care to help us.
Yesterday, when we called property manager they asked to clean it with a broom, upon saying that I won't be doing that she came and did something herself but by then the water had already damaged my things worth thousands of dollar.
Not only that, but the guys came in put in dryer, seeped out the water and left. It is so unhygienic. We spent whole evening outside- spent money in dinner, staying out. Today, we spent whole morning cleaning our apartment with bleach.
Is it fair for our property management to not make us move to another apartment? Or compensate us for loss?

Follow requirements of FS 83.56.
There is no specific requirement to compensate you for the losses unless your lease provides for it and I doubt it does. You can terminate the lease as indicated. You could also call the health department in and see if they deem the unit uninhabitable. Perhaps with a little pressure the management company will come up with a creative solution.
