Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

painting before moving out

can a landlord force you to paint before

moving out? We left the walls in the

same color we received them. There is

some wear and tear ie. scuffs on the

wall from the couches.

It depends on your lease. Usually, the answer is "no".

Landlord can not FORCE you to paint, but they can charge you for having to do it after you are gone, if the lease allows for it and/or the damage is significant enough.

If you intend to fight it I would recommend that you take quality pictures of the walls which the landlord claims are damaged and document your claim that it is only normal wear and tear.
