Legal Question in Military Law in Florida

Basic Training

My daughter is in the National Guard reserve. She completed her boot camp in SC. After about 6 weeks of being there she started complaining that her leg hurt and would swell up, all that was given to her was Tylenol. She continued with much pain and effort to do her training until she fianally graduated. Since March 22nd she's in TX doing her job training and the pain and swelling are now worse to the point that she sometimes could'nt finish her PT training. She had a scan done and it turns out that she has a in her leg (shin) and now they put her on rest leave for 6 weeks. If she cannot pass her PT test after those 6 weeks then she will be honorably discharged. If this was to happen was compensation will she be able to receive. After all when at boot camp they never x-rayed her leg all they did was give her Tylenol for the pain.

Re: Basic Training

If and when it is determined that the injury is service-connected and this appears to be the case from the facts presented, then she should get some disability payment after her discharge, but maybe she can talk to Base Legal and they can tell her what to expect.
