Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Does a personal injury attorney have the right to claim 33% of the $10,000 PIP coverage we carry through Geico? The contract we signed says 33% of the amount awarded. This does not seem right as Geico is not AWARDING us anything, they are simply paying the $10,000 directly to the hospital for bills. The attorney would have had to do nothing for this to occur. Please advise on how to handle.

Unless you retained him to handle the PIP claim in addition to the liability claim, no.

I have never taken anything from my client's PIP claim for medical reimbursement.
