suing a dead person

My father in law was in a minor auto accident no ticket for fault was issued. The defendant was not happy with the insurance company offer and is suing my father in law-. The accident was probably 4 years ago and my father-in-law passed away 2 years ago-at the time of his death-everything was put into my mother-in laws name- she just recently passed away- does her estate have anything to be concern with
