Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

My daughter purchase a home in October 2008, had a home inspection performed and there were some issues regarding a portion of the roof. An agreement was made, contract signed by the owner of the property to correct the problem. The roof started leaking and I looked over my daughters papers and found the contract and inspecting the roof myself appears that nothing was done. I call the previous owner in Indiana twice to see if he ever receive an invoice and sent payment but have not received a return call. I called the roofer who has since died and his wife indicated that he did not keep good records. The real Estate was no help so I have a call into her mortgage lender. Any ideas as to what I should do. I finally realize that all these things should be handled through a lawyer.

Get the problem fixed by a reputable roofer. Although there may be a suit against the seller, the time for doing so may expire in October, and just hiring an attorney to sue would probably cost more than fixing the problem.
