Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Ending a lease

My spouse and I moved into a new rental home in March and now we can no longer afford the rent due to a sudden job cutback shortly after moving. We need to end our lease and move. Our landlord is an attorney and tries to use legal jargon and threats that we dont understand. What can we do the legally end our lease and leave on good standing with our landlord. We are not trying to short him of money we simply ran into a financial block shortly after moving.
