Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I left my subdivision 7 months ago. There is a overall HOA and smaller HOA for the subdivision. The smaller HOA has demanded payment of their fee, which was due in July, even though I moved in June. They never updated their records. Furthermore, this smaller HOA has no officers, except one person who claims to be both President AND Treasurer--which the overall HOA told me was illegal. I asked the overall HOA what I should do, and was told to send a letter to the smaller HOA stating that I have left the subdivision. That was 6 months ago. Today I get a letter demanding payment and a late fee from the smaller subdivision.

Should I pay or fight?

This depends on whether the July fee was for the period where you owned the property. If so, then you probably owe. If not, then you do not.
