Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

We live in florida. The home we are living in is my husbands grandmothers home. We were living here with her prior to her being put In a nursing home. Now we have been told she can not give us the house or sale it to us even though she will not be coming back. Is this true? Can her home not be transfered to our names as we have been living here with her for 6 years? There is no lease agreement but we are paying property faxes and all.

As long as she is competent she can transfer her property. Who has told you she cannot transfer it now? Does she have a will? Does it specify who she wants to receive the property? Are there other heirs? You need to seek legal help with all your paperwork.
