Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Hi,

I'm a military officer and first-time home buyer in the process of moving to Tampa. I entered into a contract to buy a home yesterday. I'm very happy with my realtor, however I feel like, with all of the contracts/documents involved, I ought to have a lawyer representing my interests from this point to the closing (NLT January 20). How much can I expect this to cost? Can I negotiate a flat rate for representation? Is that a smart thing to do? Thanks!

Jackson

Generally, a real estate attorney will charge $150-200 to review your purchase agreement. This does not include seller disclosures, inspections or mortgage documents. If you want your closing papers to be reviewed before the closing, another $150-200 would be about ball park. If you want representation for negotiations or for problems arising between the time you sign a contract and the closing, it is an hourly fee, and $150-200/hour is not uncommon. You would be smart to have legal review before signing any documents.
