Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

south florida property dispute

we have a deed and pay taxes on a house in s.florida.the state claims they have proof we don't own it ,we have proof we do.we have not gone to court yetand to date still pay taxes and hold a deed.the state has asked the county tocleanup the area around our property from illegal docks, submerged boats etc. we are being lumped in by the county during this process. oct17th they submitted an emergency request to fpl and had our meter removed from our house.i am requesting all the info as to why but no one will help me. i was told by the county that a building and zoning director told fpl we didn't own the property. that is a lie.how do we go up against the county and/or the state with their unlimited financial resources?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

You need to hire a qualified real estate attorney who can do a title search and, if you are correct, the attorney can then show the results to the County to prove your case. Do not delay on this matter. Anytime you deal with the county, it is a long and slow process. Once they file suit, however, it will move fast and may be too late to first try to prove your case.
