Legal Question in Tax Law in Florida

Am I responsible for my soon-to-be ex wife's tax debt? It is money she owed from before we met and has since forgotten about it. I dont want to remind her of it if I were responsible, but if not I could use it as a negotiation tactic.

If it is an income tax liability that existed prior to your marraige, then, normally, you should not be liable for it. If it relates to payroll taves or sale taxes, then a different analysis may apply, depending upon whether you were involved in business with her. If you have been the recepient of transfers of any assets from her, then transferee or nominee liability is a possibility, depending upon the facts and circumstances. Any more specific comment would require a consultation.
