Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

I was pulled over a couple weeks ago. I then found out my license had been suspended since nov. 25th, 2009, because of no insurance on my last car ( I didnt know this). The officer seized my licence plate and licence. 16 days previous to the day i recieved my ticket, i just had a new car insured and registered. I walked out of both the insurance place and the dmv with all of my proper paper work. No one had even said anything about my suspended licence. I have to go to court the 29th to see what they are going to do. After the ticket, I have to go pay the reinstatment fee, a new registration, a new license plate, and a new license. I HAD JUST DONE THIS!!!! On top of that, i have to pay all the court fees and fines... ( its going to be over $600 for all of this...) I was wondering if the new car registration and insurance is going to be big in my defence?? Do you think they could drop the charges? Reinburse the unecessary money i had to spend??

Wow. That is crazy. Forget about the police. He is not you worry. Hire a attorney or try mailing copies of everything to the State Attorneys Office to the ASA (prosecutor) who is assigned to prosecute you. Be sure you put your case number on there if charges have filed against you (if you were cited for driving on a suspended license). He or she may drop the charges. See if you have case by looking on the Court Clerks website in your county. It sounds like a reasonable mistake. It confuses the heck out of me. The only reason I can think of your license being suspended is you didn't not pay a traffic ticket and did not show up to court to contest the citation.
