Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Traffic citation - jurisdiction

I received a citation for an accident that occured in Coral Gables, FL and was issued a ticket by a Florida Highway Patrol (jurisdiction on state roads only from what i understand). Can I fight this ticket based on the jurisdiction of the officer?

Probably not. Most members of the Florida Highway Patrol are deputized in almost every jurisdiction in the area in which they serve. Further, even though the accident may have occured in Coral Gables, it may still be on a state road as state roads are often not discernable from any other road other than by the route number, if any marking the street.
