Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

my father passed away 2 weeks ago and I took care of him almost every day until he went to sleepat the nursing home. my brother was left executor of the will. the will is extemly unfair and my brother gets the lion share of every thing my dad kept telling me to bring in a lawyer so he could change it since I was the one ther for him even when he got ill I never left the hospital and was with him when he died. The will has so many typographical errors on it and the year looks altered. I never brought a lawyer in as my dad asked of me so many times, because I didn't want to cause bad blood wiyh my only sibling and he lied and promised he would take care of me. he lied!how can I find out if this mickey mouse looking will is authentic or has any loop holes in it? thank you so much ,Nancy

It's hard to overcome a valid will, despite the unfairness. That said, if it appears altered then it may not be valid. You should sit down with a lawyer, with a copy of the will and see if there is anything that can be done.

Nancy, you should have done as your dad asked and brought a lawyer in. Now you are stuck with his will if it is valid. Any decent estate lawyer can look at it and see if it is valid.

Consult with an attorney to see if the will is valid or if you have ground to contest it. Regards,

Whetherthe will is valid or not, file a statement of claim against the estate for your services rendered to your father. The judge will make the determination is that amount requested is valid, and you can at least be paid a fair price for your time. Otherwise, hire an attorney, and contest the will. If is more than 10 years old you may have a chance at a decent contest.
