Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

I have a friend who's Godfather is deceased. When he died he left no executor or heirs. As a godchild (the only one) would there be any way of accessing the money or the will to see if he was named? it just doesn't seem right for all that money to go to someone who didn't know or even care about him.

Godchildren have no legal standing. If he left a Will and the godchild was named, then they have a legal standing.

You have to find out if there was a Will and if they are named. They should go to the county probate court in Florida where the Godfather resided to inquire if a Will was filed. If so, then maybe they request to get a copy of it.

You may also access whether a Will was filed through the Internet in some counties.

Also, they may talk with family members to inquire. But then who knows what type of answer they will get.
