My grandmother passed away a few wks ago. Do I have the right to read the will? If so, how do I obtain a copy? Thank you so much for your time, Kim

That depends upon if you are an interested party. Is there some reason you believed you are named? Was your parent that was directly related to her predecease her?

Given the situation, it is possible to require you to get a copy, but you will need an attorney to help if no one voluntarily complies.

If her will is probated, anyone may obtain a copy through the clerk of the court in the county where it is probated (should be the county where she was domiciled). Otherwise, you are probably out of luck.

If you believe she left a will and you are named in it, then force the hand of whoever holds the will. File a case in the county to which she resided and probate her estate.
