Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

My husband died January 2005. I registered the will with the Miami-Dade Probate office. There is a house, and an Ameritrade, trading account valued at 3,000. Since his death I have been unable to afford to retain an attorney. I thought everything went to the spouse in the state of florida unless otherwise stated in the will. We have no children and there were no ex wives. I have sent an assumption package to Chase for our mortgage, I haven't heard from them yet. Ameritrade is saying I need a small estate affidavit, or an application for executor-formal appointment. Is there an economical solution?

You need to administer the estate. Contact the local court's probate office for the forms or check their website.
