Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Legally look into a Trust

What is the legal way to look into a trust. Is there anyway that someone could keep one from a trust. I feel there is something wrong but I don't know how to look into it. A few things that don't sound right. The lady that handled the trust at the bank told me not to trust anyone esp my father. And that is all she could tell me. My dad had to reach a certain age before getting the trust and when he did. He send us kids a copy. There was over 20 pages that said 70% went to us kids and 30% went to my father. And then the last page changed it to all of it going to my father. My brother checked into it but the trust papers at lawyers office cannot be found. So how do I find out the truth the legal way? Thank You

Re: Legally look into a Trust

Someone must have a copy of the agreement otherwise a trust could not have been set up. A beneficiary or potential beneficiary has a right to read it. Court intervention may be necessary.

Re: Legally look into a Trust

You say that your Dad sent you a copy of the trust document. This should be sufficient for determination as to whether you are indeed a beneficiary. There are several reasons why the 70%/30% may change to 100% on the last pages- contingencies, for instance . If you are at least a possible beneficiary, you may petition the court to look into alleged wrong doing.
