Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

Attorney's trial history

Is there a way to research my attorney's trial success rate/history with WC cases? He has requested a trial date for my case and I'd like to be sure that he knows what he's doing in a courtroom. I know he's a board certified trial lawyer but that doesn't mean he has a good track record in court and my medical file is huge and involves a brain injury among several others. I'm worried that if this isn't handled correctly that the damage to my case could be irreparable. WC has already made getting treatment as difficult as possible.

Re: Attorney's trial history

I don't believe there is a "statistics" page that is available to the general public. However, every attorney keeps some type of records of their own. Based on your statement of client rights, you can ask this question directly of your attorney. You can also pull all of the attorneys recent cases by his/her bar # by using the following link: http://www.jcc.state.fl.us/jcc/searchjcc/

This will only show you cases the attorney has had since they started keeping electronic records and you will have to review each case for a final order to see if they won or lost. You can also review the docket in your own file. However, you should remember that the attorney doesn't control who comes in his door. A losing record may only be a reflection of the case itself and not necessarily the ability of the attorney who handled it. A bad case is a bad case no matter how good an attorney you are.
