Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

Workers comp

If i were to accept a settlement they are speaking to me about now, will this hinder the fact that this injury is being used for a disability case? Not the main disability but in the case.

Re: Workers comp

If you are applying for social security disability and have an open workers' compensation claim that is fine. You can settle your case if you want to but you need to provide a copy of your settlement documents to the Social Security Administration so that they can offset any benefits you may have been entitled to based on the settlement figures. It is not a dollar for dollar offset. If you settle your workers' compensation claim it is a complete divorce from the insurance carrier. You will not be entitled to any more medical care. The money you receive from the settlement will be the money you would use for treatment in the future. If you do not get approved for SSD and do not have other health insurance coverage available to you, will the settlement funds be enough to pay all of your medical care in the future? That is the only thing I would take into consideration when considering settling a claim before you are accepted disabled by the SSA.
