Workers Comp/Long Term Disability

I am presently on worker's compensation and my employer has completed an application for long term disability to the carrier. Am I entitled to this on top of my worker's comp. payments or will it hurt my cliam

As with most questions, the answer may depend on additonal information. Most important is did you pay any part of the cost of the LTD insurance? If yes, it will not affect you compensation benefits but most LTD policies contain a coordination of benefits clause that reduces the LTD payment based upon the amount of WC you get. If the employer paid the whole cost of the LTD policy, between the WC and the LTD you can't get more than 100% of your average weekly wages. Under this scenario, the WC benefit is usually reduced so that the two together equal the 100% figure.
