Legal Question in Disability Law in Georgia

Denial of handicap access to place of employment

On 12/18/98 i was hired at my present place of employment.I am a wheelchair bound para with limited leg use.My office has six stairs in the front and 3 in the back.Since my original date of hire i have been trying to get a ramp built, but my company and the landlord have been "passing the buck" as to who's responsibility it is to build me one. Well needless to say it's been more than a year and i would like to know if i have enough basis to sue them both?My office is a retail establishment that the public comes into reguarly.

Re: Denial of handicap access to place of employment

You might very well have claims against both, depending on factors such as the number of employees your employer has, the extent to which other access is provided, what you mean by "the public comes in regularly," and even the financial resources of your employer. An attorney would need this and a good deal more information before suggesting whether or not you have a claim. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
