stolen property

One of my clients took some of my property, saying they wanted to purchase it. There was a problem about this client backing out of the sale, however, the client refuses to return the property to me. What steps should I take next?

If you willingly allowed them to take the property in exchange for paying for it, it is not "stolen property." You fail to provide many facts, so one option is to see a lawyer about filing a lawsuit for the contract proce or return of property, or file yourself in Magistrate/Small Claims court (which could be a problem if you operate as a corporation).

I agree with the prior answer, you didn't provide enough information regarding the transaction. However, if they paid by check it may be a criminal matter. There may also be other criminal charges, but you may want to consult with an attorney regarding filing criminal charges and pursuing the matter in civil litigation.

You could of course go directly to the police to see if they would investigate the matter. However, depending on your location, they may be too busy, indifferent, or advise you to sue.
