Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

I signed to buy a car with the trade of my car (in mine and my wife's name) - she was not there and the sales said just to sign her name and make it look different. She is furious when I got home with another car. What should I do?

You have problems, and why would she not be angry at you? You committed a crime and defrauded the dealer and lender by giving them collateral you had no right to give them. You committed a felony by forging your wife's name. You defrauded your wife by forging her name and taking her property. It is no excuse that the sales person told you to do it (though they also committed fraud). You can be very nice to your wife, contact the dealer and tell them what happened and they may (to protect themselves) allow both of you to come in and properly sign the documents. If it is too late, or your wife or the dealer refuse, you are in a bind and probably should see a lawyer. In that case, your wife has something to hold over your head for a very long time.

You have some serious problems. You may need a good divorce lawyer and a good criminal lawyer.

You committed a felony of forgery and defrauded the dealer, finance company, state of Georgia and your wife. If anyone prosecutes, expect to land in prison.

Since you are facing prison and the loss of your marriage if our wife is willing to cooperate, the two of you might be able to get the dealer to redo the paperwork. If she isn't, hire a lawyer. Your life could well be ruined, now, or at whatever future time your wife decides to nail you.
