Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

2 days ago my girlfriend's brother and stepfather verbally assaulted and physically pushed her when she went to their house to pick up her children. In Georgia, if I go to their house, knock on their door, ask permission to stand there and make a statement and they give it, can I say something to the extent of, "You have now pulled me into this situation to deal with you personally. If you talk to her and/or lay a hand on her again, you will be dealt with severely, and the possibilities are endless", without concern of legal repercussions? After having said that, I would just walk to my car and leave, regardless of anything they say.

Although the quoted phrase probably falls short of putting some one in fear of immediate harm, it is not helpful and would likely provoke the situation. Stay clear of the fray and let the police and the criminal system work without added complications.

Sure you can say it. After they jump on you (because you wrote they like to be physical), and you are forced to defend yourself, and they phone the police and lie and say that you came to the house threatening them and you are arrested, make sure to call me and bring me money to defense you. Sure you can say it. And it would be an extremely stupid thing to do. Either you'll get slugged or shot, or they'll call the police, claim you threatened them, and you'll be out maybe $10,000 or more in legal fees defending yourself.

In other words, don't consider it.
