I was charged with family domestic battery and simple battery in Georgia. I am 56 years old with no previous criminal record. Should I plead nolo or georgia first offender. My wife tried to drop the charges but they would not let her

The one thing that you can do that would be foolish is to go to court without a lawyer. Hire one and determine what to do. (It is very possible that neither of the "choices" you mention is the right one, and a lawyer will be hugely helpful).

The judge may or may not accept a nolo plea. IF you enter a first offender plea, there are a number of things that will impact you, like you will not be able to possess a firearm or go hunting.
