Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

criminal trespass - need a lawyer?

I was arrested for criminal trespass when I was in a cul-de-sac in a new development in Walton County. There were no signs posted and I have been going to this new development for over a year and have never been told to leave or not to be there.

I was just wondering if I need to have a lawyer when I go to court? I am BROKE (all my money went to get out of jail and retrieve truck from impound) and my court date is in a couple of weeks. Will it be a ''suicide mission'' of sorts if I go to court without a lawyer and plead non-guilty? I don't want to have this on my record because I didn't do anything wrong....but I don't know if I can scrape up enough money to retain a lawyer...

You are entitled to have an attorney. You need to call the clerk of court in Walton County and ask how you apply for a public defender.
