filing a false police report charge

i a person was car jacked, called in the report to cops, they couldnt find anyone but found car, told person that they think they did it, interrogated person and convinced him to sign a confession, person said that they did not commit crime but cracked under the pressure and told them the same thing over and over but they told them they will trying to arrest a friend if he didnt confess, what should he do to get the courts in the favor of him and not the confession?

Hello:

I only have a moment to give a brief response. Also, without more specific facts, from the individual and from the arrest & booking report, I can't be very specific.

You can try to keep out the confession by filing a Motion to Suppress Evidence. The Court would set a hearing with witnesses to testify as to how the alleged confession went down. There may be other evidence to try to have suppressed. If you can win on said Motions, often the State will have to drop the case.

Depending on all of the circumstances, there may be cause to suppress the statements because they were obtained through coercion.
