Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

Possession less than an ounce

There was a drug search at school in the student parking area. My vehicle was targeted by the dog, I had to open my vehicle so the police could search the inside. They found a stem and a seed. Do I need an attorney when I go to court? I was never arrested that day or ever before. I am an honor roll student . Will a judge take that in to consideration? In Georgia will I lose my license? If I do need a lawyer, Is a court appointed attorney as good as one that I will have to pay for?

You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD LAWYER. I don't handle these cases but I highly recommend Joel baskin, with offices in East Point and Vinings.

A conviction will mean that you cannot get a Hope scholarship or most federal financial aid, will lose your driver's license and have on a criminal history a conviction marked possession/trafficking that will impact your job prospcts for life.

Many courts offer pretrial diversion to avoid this. You need a good lawyer immediately.
