Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

We reside in Fulton county, 2 hours later, I call the police when my boyfriend try to get back into the apartment. He became upset because some household chores wasn't done. We both sat down at the end of the couch arguing /yelling at each other, soon after he charge me at the end of the couch holding me down saying, "Stop treating me like a child." I had my phone in my hand and he was reaching for it to take it away from me we ended up wrestling to the floor. He then took the phone and threw it across the room, he then try to cover my face from yelling at him to "Get off of me." I bit him to break free and ran downstairs yelling, I discover my lip was split on the inside from him holding my mouth when I was yelling. He got dress and left. I told the neighbor to call the police (she didn't)

Can I drop the charges? If not how can I help lessen his sentence?

This is his first offense, we don't have any children and he is an honor roll student in college.

You don't have the authority to drop charges. You need to seek professional help or visit a women's shelter this week. Walk around and ask all the women about how they wanted to drop the charges for the first offense (meaning the first time he was caught). Some you can't ask because they are dead. They also let their abusive husband or boyfriend off and sent a clear message that they would accept the abuse. The man almost always obliges and continues.

The state charged him. You cannot drop the charges (only the prosecutor can) and you need mental health counseling as soon as possible to find out why you asked this very inappropriate question, as victims shoule never enable and help abusers. Abusers don't do it just omnce and you need to get away from this man IMMEDIATEY and FOREVER. Your health and life are at stake. Abusers always get worse when they hear that the woman they abused wants to "drop charges" and the next incident will thus always be worse and soon. Your local women's shelter can arrange the counseling (likely for free) that you so badly need, but get away from him ASAP. Good luck!
