Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Commonlaw Marriage

I had a nine year relationship that ended in death. He always introduced me to the public as his wife. He gave me financial support every month. We supported each other in sickness and health. However we never had a place of our own. We always stayed at his mother's or my mother's house and at motels. We shared the expenses of a car. Everyone assumed we were husband and wife. He is known as my brother's brother-in-law, and my mother is known as his mother-in-law. what are my chances of proving commonlaw marriage?

Re: Commonlaw Marriage

It appears that based upon the information you've given, there is an overwhelming presumption that a common law marriage in fact did exist. However, there are more facts needed to make a conclusive determination. Feel free to contact my office for further consulation on the matter.
