Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can you get a divorce in one state...

yes, can you get a divorce in one state when you got married in another? For example, if I got married in the state of Alabama, can I get a divorce in Georgia? What special things do I have to do to get a divorce? An unconteted divorce?

Thank you,

Hilda

Re: Can you get a divorce in one state...

In general, if one party has lived in Georgia for six months they can file for divorce in Georgia. If you're in metro Atlanta and are wanting to file a divorce, feel free to call our office at 404-768-3509 if you'd like us to handle it. To do an uncontested divorce, your spouse will have to sign the papers.
