Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

If a father files 4 legitimation and custody can he just do legitimation without fighting 4 custody? His lawyer says he can't the he has to fallow through with both is it true! Thks

You asked a hypothetical general question instead of specific facts for your case (which makes this answer general and rather useless).

Legitimization can be done by itself, but usually is filed with the intention of resolving some other issues, which may include visitation, custody, support, medical expenses, tax deductions, etc.

Your post concerns me for what you did not ask. It sounds like he has a lawyer and has sued you for legitimization and insteda of getting a lawyer (and you need one) that you are making the enormous mistake of talking to his lawyer, which you never ever do. Stop doing that, talk with your own lawyer, and things may go better.
